Where reviews will come from
Any review on this page will come from a homeowner whose job came through us, and it will be about that job.
Each review will say whether it's about the electrician's work or about us. Those are different things: the electrician did the job, and all we did was match it.
What we won't do with reviews
- Write them, or change what a homeowner wrote.
- Hide a review because it's critical.
- Pay for reviews, or offer anything in return for a good one.
- Quote a rating, survey or percentage we can't back up.
Why we're strict about it
New Zealand's Fair Trading Act says anything a business claims about itself has to be accurate. The business needs reasonable grounds when it makes the claim, and evidence found afterwards may not protect it. Referring to a survey that doesn't exist breaches the Act too.
A review on a business website is a claim, so it gets the same care as everything else we publish.
How to judge an electrician without reviews
Ask to see their licence ID. It carries their photo, registration class and number, and an expiry date. Then search the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) public register to confirm the licence isn't suspended and to see whether they've been disciplined in the last three years.
After that, get a written quote and ask which certificates you'll receive when the work's done. Our guide to choosing an electrician has more questions worth asking.
