Who we are
This policy covers Sparky Next Door NZ, operated by Blufire Pty Ltd, an Australian company (ABN 14 665 545 282). We match homeowners' electrical jobs with licensed electrical workers. For privacy questions about Sparky Next Door NZ, Blufire's privacy policy at blufire.com.au/privacy explains how to contact Blufire.
What we collect
- From the quote form: the kind of job, how soon you need it, your postcode, your message if you write one, your first name, your mobile number and, if you give it, your email.
- A record of your consent: that you agreed to Blufire sharing your details with one local electrician so they can contact you about the job.
- If you contact us: whatever you put in your email or message.
- From electricians who apply: their registration and practising licence details, insurance, NZBN and evidence of the jobs they do.
- From the website itself: Microsoft Clarity shows us how visitors move around the site, with heatmaps of clicks and scrolling and replays of visits. It relies on cookies and similar tools. What you type into the quote form is masked, so it never appears in a replay, and Microsoft deals with this data as its Privacy Statement sets out. Spam on the quote form is stopped by Google reCAPTCHA, the "I'm not a robot" tick box, which passes Google details about your browser and your use of the box. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service cover that. All three are linked under Sources below.
What we use it for
To match your job, and so the electrician who takes it can contact you about it. We check your mobile number is real, and we use automated tools to read your message and work out the size of the job.
If you'd rather not give us a mobile number or postcode, we can't match your job, but every guide on the site is still there for you.
Who sees it
Electricians who cover your area can see your job, your first name, your suburb and any photos, but not your mobile number or email. The first electrician to take the job receives your first name, mobile, email and message so they can contact you, and no other electrician ever does.
If no electrician takes your job within two days, electricians elsewhere in your region may see it on the same basis. We don't sell or rent your details to anyone.
Other businesses help us run the site, such as hosting.
Where it's stored
Your details are held in Australia, and some of our service providers are in the United States, so your information may be stored or processed there too.
How long we keep it
We keep each job request and its consent record, in case questions about that job come up later.
Seeing or correcting your details
You can ask to see what we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Blufire's privacy policy at blufire.com.au/privacy explains how to contact Blufire about a request like that.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled it
Raise it with us first, the same way. If that doesn't settle it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. A problem with an electrician's work is a separate matter, covered on complaints and disputes.
